The Carolina Panthers and running back Rico Dowdle are set to face his former team, the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday at 1:00pm in Charlotte at Bank of America Stadium. Coming off a career high of 206 yards rushing on 23 carries against the Miami Dolphins last week, Dowdle is ready to play against his former team. His 206 rushing yards was only the 3rd time a Carolina Panther has run for over 200 yards.
Dowdle spent 5 seasons with the Cowboys before signing with the Panthers this year. On Good Morning Football Thursday morning the Panther running back had this to say about the Cowboys. "They got to buckle up. I'm looking forward to playing those guys." For his performance against the Dolphins, Good Morning Football cohost Kyle Brandt presented his 'Angry Runs Scepter' to Rico Dowdle, stating "He is like a giant boat and they are actual dolphins swimming next to the boat doing nothing to stop it." The Cowboys defensive players have acknowledged Dowdle's comments and stated they'll be ready for a physical game.
The Cowboys are ranked dead last in total yards allowed with 412 per game. They are also dead last in passing yards allowed with 284 per game. The rushing defense is ranked 22nd giving up 127 yards per game. Dallas is ranked 29th giving up almost 31 points a game. On offense, the Cowboys are the complete opposite. They rank #1 with 406 total yards per game. #3 in passing yards. #8 in rushing yards and 4th in total points scored.
The Panthers are ranked 12th in total yards allowed with 311 per game. They are ranked 10th in passing yards allowed with 204 per game. The rushing defense is ranked 14th giving up 107 yards per game. Carolina is ranked 18th giving up almost 24 points per game. The Panthers offense is 21st in total yards, 26th in passing yards, 10th in rushing yards and 24th in points scored. All stats are from ESPN.
The Cowboys are 3.5 point favorite to win on Sunday.
